Fanny Packs

The Detour is our fanny pack: a slim, structured waist bag in 210D ripstop nylon and recycled 500D polyester, made in small batches in India. Two pockets, an adjustable strap, and a PVC-coated lining that wipes clean. Water-resistant, and small enough that you stop noticing you're wearing it.

How to wear a fanny pack

Three ways, and they suit different situations. At the waist is the original — good for walking, markets and festivals, keeps weight off your shoulders entirely. Across the chest sits higher and is easier to reach into while moving. At the front, crossbody, is what most people in Indian cities settle on: it keeps your things in your line of sight on a crowded metro and out of reach on a two-wheeler.

What fits: a phone, cards, keys, cash, a passport, and a compact camera. What doesn't: a camera with a lens attached. If you're carrying a camera setup, look at the Off-route sling instead.

Common questions

What are the dimensions?

22.1 cm wide × 11.4 cm high × 5.1 cm deep, roughly 1.2 litres.

Is it water-resistant?

Yes — water-resistant, not waterproof. The coated ripstop handles rain and spray but the bag is not submersible and the zips are not sealed.

Which parts are recycled?

The 500D polyester is recycled. The 210D ripstop nylon is not.

Will a compact camera fit?

A point-and-shoot will. A mirrorless body with a lens attached will not — use the Off-route sling or the Point & Shoot pouch for that.

Where is it made?

In India, in small batches.

Small-batch bags cut from 210D ripstop nylon & recycled polyester. Designed for travellers, photographers, and the generally creative.
